Managerial competencies and small business venture performance: an emerging economies perspective

Purpose — The challenges faced by most small-scale ventures in developing economies has largely been attributed to not just the environment issues, but also poor human capacity of managers effectively make decisions that will ensure continued survival business over a period. objective this research was thus assess effect managerial competency on performance SMEs.Method We adopted descriptive survey design for study. used sample 394 SMEs survey, which were selected using convenience sampling technique. This relied content validity and internal consistency measure reliability respectively. multiple regression with aid SPSSv23 data analysis. Result outcome shows competencies affect enterprises. Also, we found interpersonal manager is low, while cognitive made strongest unique contribution explain venture performance. conclude drive improved there must be effort targeted towards improving skills country.Contribution validates resource-based view theory contributes expand literature leadership from an emerging context.
